View Full Version : the unreleased stuff
obviously a lot of the unreleased stuff from shows is going to be on the album (we can only hope so, right!?), but I was wondering if there was any good list of the original songs (not covers) they've done? which ones are vocals, and which ones instrumental? thanks for any help!
i.e., is smoothie song instrumental, or are there lyrics (yeah, I guess I'll find out monday, but i want to know now!)

the smoothie song's an excellent instrumental-- i'm kind of surprised they've stuck with that same song title!

There are songs called The Great Illusion, The Loon, Sleep, Starfish, these all have vocals but I don't know if they are new or old songs. I've heard that an instumental, Tenessee Waltz, may be on the new CD.
They've also done songs with Glen Phillips like Sake of the World.
Hope this helps,
Walrus
The Great Illusion is a Sean song, and Sleep is a Chris song. Both have vocals, and both are, IMHO, particularly strong songs. I'm not familiar with the others... but I guess we'll find out...

The Loon is actually La Lune, and was originally written by a band named Woodburning Project , Santa Barbara band, a song they picked up from Glen I'd think... It's a great song, but the lyrics are depressing. I remember hearing that Starfish was a Sister Hazel song. Hope I'm helpful!

Ok, this is going to be a dumb queston, but I have to ask.... Can anybody tell me anything about the smoothie song? Is this the one they've been opening their shows with, or something else? Have any of you tried to play it and can tell me the key? (The one I'm thinking of is in A, and there's a section towards the end where it modulates all over the place). Thanks!

Yes Sister Hazel is awesome! I remember getting the Starfish tape and listening to it over and over...then when I heard Nickel Creek do it, I was sure I'd died and gone to heaven!
