Review for one of the best nights of my life.
The Show started about 8pm, but they started letting everyone in at 7pm. And since it was general admission everyone was starting line up at 4:15pm me being the second group in line. When they let everyone in I ran up the stairs and then straight to the stage. We could stand right up at the stage. I got a spot to the farthest right and I was right in front of a mic, so I was trying to figure out whose spot it was then I realized it was Sean's because I noticed his guitars. I was about to start hypervenalating. I finally started to calm down when 8 hit. As they walked on stage I realized for the first time that it was real. And I was right about being right in front of Sean. It was incredible. They played for an hour and a half maybe a little longer. My voice and hands hurt so badly after the 90 minutes. They really had everyone going when they started playing Ode to a Butterfly, because as most know they get you to clap your hands with the beat. I was clapping like there was no tomorrow. Most of the Nickel Creek songs that they played I couldn't recognize until someone started singing because they had different intros to them. In almost every song Chris would walk as close to the edge of the stage as possible but he never went anywhere else. When Sean finally started coming closer to the stage I had to look straight up to be able to see him. The whole time I had a huge grin on my face and a few times Sean looked down when I was looking at him and smiled back. I loved Sara's song that she did on the Uke. I finally realized that that is what she was holding one of the MAS promo pictures. They did 2 encores I didn't know of either of them but they were great. After the show I ran to the back of the building where their bus was at and as I ran back there Pete Thomas was there and so he signed my poster. I was the only one for about 3-4 minutes then people started to come and then Sara came out and signed everyones things. I gave her the picture that I did of a violin and she was so excited. She asked me how I drew the picture and what I used. It was great. Then after she left it was about 6 minutes before anything happened then I thought oh man what if the other people aren't coming out. And I really wanted to give the pictures I drew to Chris and Sean. Then Chris finally came out with his Mandolin and started playing on the sidewalk for us. And what was even more awesome was the fact that I was right by the gate before he came out and when he did come out he stood right in front of the gate so I was only an inch away from him. Glen then came out and started to sing! They did that for about 6 minutes and Chris played a song off of his new solo record. It sounds awesome. Then when he was done with that Sara came back out with her violin and started to join in. And they played for about 10 minutes and after that Sean went in the bus for what seemed like a millisecond and came out with his guitar and new shirt on. That boy can change in a hurry. And then they all played for about 15 minutes and then every so often Pete Thomas would come in and play on Glen's guitar. After they were done playing they signed autographs. And I rushed over to Chris so that I could give him the picture and give him Sean's in case I didn't get to see him. The first thing Chris said was you put the right number of strings on the picture. And he said that he really enjoyed it. And then I didn't see Sean so I gave the picture to Chris and asked him to give it to him and he said sure he is right over here. When Sean saw it he was all wow who did this? And Chris pointed me out and I was all embarresed because it is Sean. Then I went up to Sean and asked him to sign my poster and that is when I told him that I came 1000 miles to see him and said kind of embarrasingly Wow thanks that cool. Boy is that boy short by the way. I am only 5'6 and I hovered over him. I got Glen's autograph and I told him about going 1000 miles and that it was worth it. and on the poster he wrote drive safe, but it looks like dive safe. So my first Nickel Creek concert is one that I will never forget. Oh also Sara told of her story about going on the wrong tour bus. She went on Eric Claptons bus instead! And nobody told her that she was on the wrong bus. The reason she thought it was the right bus is because on one of the bunks it said Chris and so she automatically assumed that maybe he just switched spots then she asked someone and they said nope this isn't Nickel Creeks bus this is Eric Claptons'. Well I hope that I didn't bore you. If anyone knows what the set list was could you let me know? Thanks.
