I'm just going to throw the basics from the SF show here and encourage others that were there to add on their thoughts!
The venue was MUCH smaller than anywhere I had ever seen them before so there didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house.
My wife and I got there about 40 minutes or so before the doors opened and we ended up one person from the stage just in front of Sara's mic.
The show started at 9:00 and seems to have followed the same set list from the Seattle show, just in a different order.
Some of the stuff I remember:
- There was a faster tempo on Caleb Meyer then I remember, was very fast and with the exception of Sara's mic not being turned up enough at first, was very good.
- Excellent version of Windmills - Great harmony's
- Son of Sam, La Lune, and Somewhere(I believe) were sadly frustrating for us thanks to a photographer who shoved her way in and stood on a small stool right in front of us.. but the songs sounded great.
- Sara's song (Anthony) was GREAT! Her singing and playing a ukulele with Chris, JPJ, and Glen surrounding her and singing backup. Very cute song.. I really cannot wait to get a tape of one of these shows, just for that song.
- At about the mid-point, everyone left except Sean and John Paul Jones who pulled out a mandolin. They ended up doing an instrumental version of the Led Zep. song Going to California which was absolutely beautiful! I happened to notice NC's tour manager off to the side with a video cam during that one.. (video someday?)
- Taxman, absolutely ROCKED with the full band! The Drums really kicked this one up a step.
- Poor Chris.. During one of his solo's, he stepped forward onto the amps at the front of the stage and put his foot into a gap and fell forward nearly into the crowd. He shook it off pretty well and didn't seem to damage his mando. Glen and him seemed to have a good laugh after the song as they left the stage for a moment.
- They ended the night with Zep's Gallows pole which was once again ROCKING! I really thought that sparks were going to start flying off Sara's bow during that one!
- The final song of the night was You don't have to move that Mountain
Due do my pregnant wife's feet REALLY hurting, we left right after the show and didn't get to see any out at the bus action, so please add to this if anything interesting happened out there!
