Hi Mando Folks
Has anyone been playing around with Sinai Part II?
This is a fantastic song.
I have been trying to transcribe it, but the 32nd note runs are killing me!! For instance where Bridge 1 resolves back to the main theme, there is a blistering run from the Am chord back to the D chord.
Any help is appreciated.

oh man I can't imagine trying to keep up with that. more power to ya. hopefully someday for me. have you thought of some software help? I just downloaded this and it looks pretty cool. Slows down the music w/o changing tone. shareware, so you can only do a little, but you should be able to get it to do what you want with some effort.

WHat made you guys (and any other mando players out there) decide to learn to play the mandolin? I'm trying to decide on an instrument to play, because I just can't take all this listening to NC without being able to try a little bit of it on my own!

Actually, you should learn the banjo!!!
I really started playing mandolin in earnest after my right hand quit working right from lack of practice. No right hand makes a poor banjo player...however, it doesn't effect me holding a pick.
Mandolin is cool, but so is guitar, fiddle, and banjo.

Learn what you REALLY have the drive, or the obsession to learn.

I picked up the mando because it SOUNDS like so much fun to play, so I figured it's got to be worth playing. I had alraedy played the bass and a bit of guitar. bass is not too much fun by yourself, and guitar is SO normal. mando sounds like nothing else! I cant say I recommend playing banjo first, but if you're into it, go for it. I'll be trying it soon myself! at all costs, at least try to play SOMEthing, even if it's guitar. borrow one from somebody. or go into a locally owned music shop and admit you're clueless (always the hard part) and start asking questions and trying things. try it!

ever since i was a kid i would sit and listen to my dad play guitar at home and watch him play sunday mornings at church. he is the reason i learned to play. banjo i just picked it up for the heck of it. i wanted a challenge and i'm usually bored because there is nothing to do here. i learned to play the mando partly because of chris, but my dad has a friend who plays and he would play around christmas time for the church and he is also part of the reason i learned to play.

I saw NC on CMT's On The Verge and Chris said that it's high and tinkley, which reminded me of what I was like. With that explaination, I realized that descibed me and I'm 20.
I actually started on guitar and moved over because I was more into mando-style playing (is that actually a term:confused:).
I still play guitar regularly though. I would try any and all inrtuments before you commit to one. Mando is a hard instrument to get down, but it is a fun challenge. Also you can just mess around with it and come up with some kind of music.[noise]

Wow, thanks for your help everybody! I think I'm going to start out with the guitar, because a.) my grandma can teach me how to play it, b.) we already have one in our house, and c.) I love Sean!

Once again everybody, thank you for your input!
