thanks for posting, that is a nice interview.

on the contrary to what Chris said, though, i think he HAS made a great album, Not All who Wander are Lost...certainly not the greatest he's capable of or maybe the type of greatness he was thinking about, but still great in my opinion.

good article. i like this part in response to getting flack for not being a bluegreass band. i think it answers a lot of controversy on this MB about how different Deceiver sounds.
{...}we don't want to cultivate listeners who need their music to fall into a small genre. We don't think any great art was made while keeping any people with small-minded limitations in mind.
by saying that he admits that the difference from his solo work (which he also said is not different to be different) to Nickel Creek music should be respected for what it is, not disregarded for what its not.
and i respect that immensely.

yeah i liked how he said Deciever was not different just for the sake of being different; the songs are the way they are cuz that's how he wanted them to be. makes sense.
