Just thought Chris fans might like to know that he is on Keith Urban's new CD.
That's pretty much it really, it's a song called 'She's Gotta Be', and it's really good. In fact, I'd highly recommend the whole album!

Ewwww... Keith Urban?
***shudder***
Hmmm...are you sure? I just bought the track on Napster. I don't hear any mandolin on the track, and the only voice I hear singing is Keith Urban's

I'm absolutely 100% certain Chris is playing mandolin on that track. It lists him as one of the musicians on the track and then at the back of the booklet says 'Chris Thile appears courtesy of Sugar Hill'.

I think that's pretty cool! I've also noticed that Chris plays on the Dixie Chicks newest album, Home. He plays quite a bit.

P.S.- Any tips on writing music? I have a music theory project due Monday worth 500 points!

Ugh...Keith Urban??
I guess some artists just need a little help from the outstanding ones like Chris Thile.
That's cool though that Chris will help people out when they need it...I'm sure Keith Urban isn't at the top of Chris' favorites list...but then agian, maybe I'm wrong...I'm kind of opinionated I guess because I really can't stand pop country music...but if Chris is playing, it can't be that bad, right?!

I guess Chris must like him a bit at least, I doubt he'd get involved with his album if he couldn't stand him.
I'm not entirely sure I agree with your comment of artists needing help from the outstanding ones, because I think Keith is a very good guitarist, but I also refuse to turn into one of those horrible fans who slags off anyone who dares to say things against musicians they like.

Everyone has their own opinion and that's what makes the world go round. I totally respect the fact that there are people who enjoy all the different genres of music. I, myself, listen to everything from Beethoven to Nickel Creek to Hank III (the list goes on and on). I'm not saying it's a bad thing to like Keith Urban, or his music. I just don't like pop country...just my opinion. That's why music's so great, and the reason I teach music every day...it's all based on how it directly effects you...what you can relate to and how it makes you feel. For me, I just don't get anything out of his kind of music.
And, trust me, I realize that Chris Thile or any of the members of Nickel Creek are not God. They aren't perfect, and I know that. I think that's probably one of the things I respect them most for...for being human and not trying to make everyone think they are some superhuman group just because they are famous.
I respect all musicians...I am one myself...and I respect the music making process...and I love music in general...I do think it's important to be able to respect something even if you don't like it so that's what I try to do...So, I guess I should have been a little more informative in that last comment! Sorry if I offended any Keith Urban fans out there!

You didn't offend me, and you probably didn't offend any other fans of Keith either. I understand that you don't like Keith's music, if we spoke more, we'd probably find that there's some music you like that I don't. It was just the way you worded your comment that caused confusion I think, it sounded like you were saying Keith was terrible and Chris is fantastic, so Keith needed Chris to help him be good, that's all.
I agree with the comments you made about how music is down to it affecting you personally, I love that music can cause such debate in people, and what one loves another hates, and you can learn so much from it too. I much prefer it when musicians act normal, because at the end of the day, they are normal, it just happens that they have an amazing talent, but that doesn't give them the right to think they're better than anyone else.
When I first heard Sean I was blown away by his guitar playing and then when I met him for the first itme I was kinda nervous because I thought 'oh no, what if he's really full of himself and horrible?!' But he wasn't, none of NC were, they all just chatted, like they hadn't done a gig, or they had but it was in a friend's living room, not to a packed concert venue.
