As happy as I am to hear about Nickel Creek expanding and growing into a larger fan base with a poppier sound on the next album (which I am SO excited about :))....I can't help feeling a little protective.
They're my bluegrass band!
And as much as I want people to love them just as much as I do...I also want them to be my well kept secret!
Is this...wrong?:(
Last night's concert was incredible...and I'd much rather be there again right now...instead of....well....posting this on the message board:)

I think it's great lots of people like yourself consider NC your bluegrass band, but really they're more newgrass (I dont care so much about the labels, but there are some (cranky) old timers out there who freak out when you call stuff like NC music bluegrass). So if you like their bluegrassy stuff, check out Sam Bush or David Grisman or Tony Rice or New Grass Revival and folks like that.
Anyway, we're out to Vermont for a couple weeks of vacation. taking my mando and hoping to learn the fox while I'm up there. see yall later.

I kind of know what you mean, alwayslisten...as much as I am excited for NC to blow up after their new album (which I'm sure they will), I'm feeling kind of protective too, like you said. Which I know is selfish, but still....they ARE my bluegrass band...yet, even though I'm going to feel kind of sad when they become super huge, I'm also SOOO excited for them to actually become big stars!

Oh yes, I see what you mean, nitejule. I will hereafter post no more in this thread, because if it causes as much discussion as the news on the new album thread I'll just have to quit my job so I can stay home and keep up with all the new posts! LOL!
