Everytime I think I'll stop obsessing soon something else happens that makes it stronger then ever.

My obsession started 3 years ago, with the release of This Side, and it is still on going to this day and I don't see it ending any time soon.

My obsession started when I saw the 'Speak' video :D, I can't recall the exact date or anything. . . Just when I saw that video. :D

Yeah, I remember the first time I saw Speak (which was the first time I'd even heard of NC) and was just so excited that I found a new band that I really liked, then going on to watch the rest of their videos. Especially Smoothie song, when I was thinking And they do instrumentals! They're actual musicians! Nothing against bands that don't do instrumentals of course :)
Do obsessions end? [lolol]
Hmmm, I think when I was younger they did... teenage obsesions especially seem to flare hot and then move on LOL. Now that I am an olllld lady, I've pretty much got permanent interests. (which means they accumulate & it gets awful compliacted heheh)
I've been a Creek fan since ummmm 2001? The original tour with Glen Phillips.

My obsession started almost 4 years ago after the 2nd time that I had seen them in concert. It was at the House of Blues in Chicago and was an amazing show that I didn't think was ever going to end as they played for hours. Things have never been the same since then.

Oh this is 'how long did your obsession last' thread! I thought it was just about when it started, haha.
My 'obsession' lasted for eh, a month or so, I'm no longer obsessed, I'm just a fan :D.

My fascination started something more than a year ago with the woodsongs old time radio, where I saw the Thile/Sutton show from the archives. I was realy blown away, so I started looking for more info en bought all the cd's I could lay my hands on (not so much in Belgium).
I'ts a bit odd that I never heard of them before, but I'm more of a jazz-cat ...
I intoxicated my wife and kids and they became loyal fans (my youngest (7 yrs) wants to learn the mandoline).
When I told a good friend about NC and CT, he showed me the older CT cd's he bought in Lexington when visiting some celtic musicians over there - never thougt that I would find someone in my neighbourhood to discuss NC with :-)

My obsession started summer 2004, when I saw MAS on Breakfast with the Arts on A&E. Loved what I saw so I decided to check out MAS and NC. Bought NC self titled and have been hooked ever since. I have been playing the album non-stop since I got it. Seriously had a one disc rotation for almost 6 months there.
Then picked up This Side, which is also great. Can't wait for the new album. And ofcourse, the obsession is still going on.

my Dad actually bought me the first CD (i think in 2002...) I liked it alot then, and when This Side came out I really became a fan ^_^. Sometimes the obsession comes and goes, but either direction I'm still a die-hard fan.

I obsess more privately these days, I think because I'm older now but it started when I was 17 and saw them the last time they played Starr Hill in Charlottesville, VA. I still enjoy the music a great deal but I'm not worried about going to see them everytime they play within a 200 mile radius of me (like i was before). It gets entirely too expensive so instead, I just buy the cds when they come out & try to catch them once a year when they come to the area.

That is so weird ... my dad hear them on the radie when they were first starting to come into the scene i guess you could say ... so he bought their CD Nickel Creek ... and I wanted to listen to my brother's new Creed CD, but Dad had us listen to them ... and from those 1st few notes in Ode to a Butterfly ... I was hooked, and I obsessed until This Side came out really ... long time I know, after that I was for a few months then it died down (never leaving fandom of course), but now I'm hooked again ... gotta have my creek!!!

My obssession began about five years ago when Nickel Creek came to my university and played a show. Ah, those were the days when I could travel hours to see them and skip class. Now I ahve a job and responsibilities. *sigh* :-)
