I have a couple questions about the pics on the WSTFD packaging. Does anyone know whose hand that is on the cover? And, were some of the pics taken at Largo? I went to the Largo website today, and the piano looks the same. So, I was just wondering if that's where those pics were taken.

When you open the CD there is a guy sitting at a table while nickel creek is off to the side. He's touching the top of a candle so i would assume it's his hand that's touching the fire on the cover.--i don't know who he is--but i'm guessing eric valentine or tony berg

does it bother anyone else that the pic of sean is backwards? I mean I know it's a mirror... but it's still like... agh!
and he's not even playing a guitar, eh? 4 stringed..... some sort of bass? but that's kinda weird
Anyone know exactly what it is?

I think he's playing a tenor guitar in the photo. Not 100% but am pretty sure.

I was waching Austin City Limits last night - the one with NC & Ralph Stanley. I've fogotten who played bass - not Mark Schatz - but in at least one song I noticed he was playing a small bass that looked like an electric cello.
Sean is likely playing one of the guitars credited on Somebody more like You. Tenor guitar is a good guess. Wish it said so in the credits.
Good observations about the guy at the table. Don't know who it is, but it's not Eric Valentine. I saw him playing drums at the end of Helena at Largo. [noise]

i googled him, this page seemed to make most sense. in the scheme of Eric Valentine and things, that is.

hehehe Trevor Whatever... I think it's probably more of a nickname then they don't know seeing as if they really didn't know they'd probably just ask.

heh, that picture of Sean threw me for a loop, too. I thought he was left-handed for a sec, then decided it's his reflection in a mirror...

I must be losing my touch, used to be sooo observant. I can't believe I didn't notice Sean's four stringed instrument. I just assumed it was a guitar. And, I knew Sean was flipped, but I didn't figure out the mirror thing either.
Yeah, pavement23, I figured that out about the guy in the other pic after I posted this. Good for you for figuring it out too.
matt, do you mean the fire one or the one of the glasses? I feel really stupid 'cause I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Thanks, Sneezy II, for telling me where the pics were taken. I like it when I take a guess and I'm right about something.
One more thing about the pics: Look at the pic in the cd holder part in the part under the cd. Could it be that Chris and Sara are supposed to be posed like the two people in the picture hanging above them? Could it be a coincidence? I know you can't see the picture hanging above them too well, so I could be totally off on this.

I think Sean is left-handed. Though he may play right-handed...I am not sure. But I think someone mentioned that he was a lefty.

He definitely plays the standard, right-handed way. I've seen him write stuff before but for the life of me I can't mind which hand he wrote with.
On a semi-related note, my fiddle teacher plays left-handedly which I've never seen with a fiddle before - it's really cool but makes it really difficult for me to translate what he's playing to my fiddle when we're not playing with notation!

well i imagine if his production copyright name is Perfect Left (which we've discussed in a thread extremely recently) that he may very well be left handed. it makes sense anyway.

The four stringed instrument is definitely a tenor guitar. I was quite pleased to see it on the CD sleeve as I have toyed with getting one for a while as you can tune them the same as a mandolin (thus making an interesting version of an octave mandolin). Unfortunately they're hard to get hold of and I haven't found one at a decent price yet.
It's also featured in some of the pictures in Sean's latest journal entry. If you look at the 2nd picture he is playing right handed. The CD photo must have been flipped!

Um, I believe Sean and Sara are both right handed. Chris, however, is left handed but plays right handed.

I can't believe I never realized that the pic of Sean was a mirror image. That makes total sense. I can't believe I didn't notice it. Dang I feel stupid.

The 4 stringed instrument Sean is playing could well be a ukulele. I work in a stringed instrument shop and we have ukes that are that big, they vary in size from the really small ones to the slightly larger models. I think they run, soprano, concert, bartione, or something like that, I can't remember exactly.

I'm pretty sure it's a tenor guitar. I play tenor, and that looks a lot like mine.... However, we also have a baritone uke that we thought was a tenor guitar for a long time. The neck on it is a lot shorter though.
Heh, when I first saw that, I was like...he's playing it left handed? And then I noticed that you can tell it's in a mirror by looking at the right side of the picture...it's kind of fuzzy, but you can see his arm, etc. It's under the lyrics.
Hope this helps, I know it's kind of late.

Hey guys. At the St. James's concert this year in London, my friend and I asked Sara whose hand was on the front of the cover - she said it was the producer's, cause Chris's fingers were long and pointy, and Sean's were short and stubby.
