I'm so excited about the new album! It's awesome. I was thrilled to see doubting thomas. But, when they were in Philadelphia Chris sang Maybe so and I fell in love with the song. He said it might be on the next album. I missed it : ( I've been dying to hear it again since that concert.

I've heard that from someone's taping of a live show before - I've been listening to it a lot recently and it just keeps getting better. I'd be stoked to see that on a CD sometime, it's so catchy!

Golly I miss this song like crazy too! I love it so much, but I kinda always knew they wouldn't put it on this album. One of us needs to ask us about these unrecorded awesome songs. Where did they go?!

Yeah, I hate it when they do a song in concert and never record it. I miss a song they did called Sweethearts on Parade (I think, not sure what it's called officially). Does anyone know if it's a cover or if one of them wrote it?
*Sorry if this has been discussed before. It's been a while.*

It's a cover of an old '20s or '30s song I believe - Sara mentioned something about it on a WFH recording I heard. It's a really sweet song but I don't think Nickel Creek have ever done it as a band - I've only ever heard of it being done at a Watkins Family Hour, though I may well be wrong - I frequently am!

I believe we heard it at a NC concert in April 2004, as an encore...

Yeah, Thistle, sorry to tell you but you're wrong :) b/c I've never been to a Watkins Family Hour. I heard them do it at Samford University in Alabama.
It may have been in the encore, but I don't think so.

No worries - am used to being wrong! My bad :)
Have any of you heard them doing a song that contains the lyrics 'We're no better than you/But we'll keep loving you while we can...' They did it when they were over in the UK in early 2003 and I've always wanted to hear it again but I've no idea of the name of it and no one else can remember hearing it at all! Can anyone shed any light?

I think that was Elliott.

Sorry to interrupt, but I thought I'd mention in this thread that I'm behind some of you and really excited that I just found the Watkins Family Hour stuff on the internet and Sweethearts on Parade since I had mentioned here that I missed that song.
I'll write the rest of what I want to say about this in the Sara thread.
Ok, back to what you guys were saying. :)

I've wanted to hear that song ('Elliot') again for so long - does anyone have a live show it's on they'd want to trade or know where I could download it or something? I'm so desperate to hear it again - I thought it was brilliant when I saw them do it.

I really wish they had included Rain on their new CD. Even though the melody is sort of similar to Can't Complain I still really like that song. Maybe they'll cut it on the next CD or hopefully they still do it at their concerts.

ah yes, those are all fun songs. Elliot and Maybe So constantly get stuck in my head. But thematically I know they wouldn't have fit on this CD. neither would Rain or They're Only Pictures sadly. But those are such popular ones, I can't see them getting rid of them forever. Chris once did Empire Falls in concert in 2003 and then I never heard of him doing it again...and then it was on his new album! So, I doubt we've heard the last of these songs.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! It's so much better than I remember - you're a total star (so are you Rachel - will PM you later)! Yay! May I be so bold as to ask whether there's more where that came from? I don't have any Nickel Creek shows and I'd so love to hear all the new material you guys are lucky enough to have heard, especially songs like 'They're Only Pictures'. Where do you guys get them from? The taping scene in the UK is pretty much non-existant from what I can tell :(
15 days til I finally get to see them live again after two and a half years! Hurrah!

Yeah - I can't quite catch all the lyrics but I'm working on it. Just kind of humming the bits I don't know!
