This is sort of a mundane topic, but...
Well I can't decide who sings lead on which songs on This Side. The Sara songs are obvious. I figured I'd put what I have concluded, with question marks on the ones I can't figure out.
Spit on a Stranger - Chris
Speak - Sean, Sara
Hanging By a Thread - Sean
I Should've Known Better - Sara
This Side - Sean
Green and Gray- Chris
Seven Wonders - Sara
House Carpenter - Chris
Beauty and the Mess - Sara
Sabra Girl - Sara
Young - ?
Brand New Sidewalk - Chris
I thought those of you who've seen NC live would be most helpful, so please, correct me, fill in the blanks. Please and thank you.

Chris sings Hanging By a Thread and Young.

This is exactly my problem. The liner notes don't say who sings which song. They say who wrote it. For example, Stephen Malkmus certainly didn't sing Spit on a Stranger on the NC album. Chris Thile and Luke Bulla didn't sing Beauty and the Mess.

Hanging by a Thread and Young are both Chris. I'm like 99% sure.

Don't they tend to sing the songs that they write? Sean wrote This Side and Speak and he sings both of those...

They typically do. They even addressed that in one of their interviews. They said that whoever writes the song sings it, but this time they focused more on what would be better for the song. They all contributed to all of the songs. They didn't censor themselves.

Chris does definetely sing both Hanging By a Thread and Young there is a distinct difference that I can hear to tell the difference in Chris and Sean's voices. So I would have to say that I am a 100% sure.
Also about they sing the songs that they write, I think that holds more true to Chris' songs, he writes them and then he sings them, but with Sean's songs sometimes Sara will sing them. I have noticed that on some of there other cds.

Gracias. I thought Hanging By a Thread was Chris up until yesterday, when I began to second guess myself. But you have put my mind to rest. Thank you all.

It doesn't say who sings what. It just says who wrote what.
Time to listen to more Creek hehe. After a while your ears will hear the difference fairly easily. Sean & Chris's vocal quailities are pretty different, and the more you listen to different recordings (including solo work) the more that really stands out.
Least, to me it does :)
I tend to prefer Chris's voice, all things being equal... but my fave song on the new CD is Someone Like You, and shazam... Sean song. [lolol]

So now you are a genie Adyn? Shazam Someone Like You is awesome. I think it is great that because we are all such awesome Creek fans that we can openly say we prefer one persons voice over another on most songs. So with that said I prefer sean's voice, but my favorite song on this album is Tomorrow is a Long Time and Sara sings it, but Someone More Like You is my 2nd. Thank you for your time. :)

Yeah, I've had that problem too, though on the more obvious songs like Speak and Hanging By A Thread were not as problematic. (hey, I've been a fan for not even a year yet, but I'm catching on quickly to the define-whose-voice-it-is deal.) Hopefully, it'll become natural later on as I listen more and more. (and buy more of their CDs, solo and not.)
Though, in relation to this topic, I have one question. On the new CD, is Somebody More Like You the only song Sean sings? I'm sure he wrote more than one, as it was told on an interview, but I'm just wondering.

Yes that is the only song Sean sings but he did WAY more harmony on this album than on the previous albums.

ah, thanks for clearing that up, TG. I'll have to buy the new album to test that claim.
