......how many of you NC fans felt even a little bit of disappointment at the fact that Chris is engaged? I must confess, I am not immune to all of those jealous girl feelings, either. My first gut reaction was, oh no! now i can't have him! Keep in mind that this is all in the very back of my mind & i didn't admit it to myself right away. Of course, once i think about it & rationalize it out, I'm happy for him & kicking myself for such silly thoughts. I tell myself: get real. Please tell me someone else out there was just a little disappointed that they won't be getting a chance with Chris..........but yet still very happy for him.

lol! i guess when i heard he was engaged i was just a tiny bit sad. but then i realized that hey-it's not like i would have ever in a million years had any chance at all of even talking to him for more than like, 2 minutes, so i was just happy that he was happy!

Who ever knew that Chris getting engaged would become such a personal issue to us all? Man, I'm glad he got engaged now because if he waited until Nickel Creek blows up (which they are going to soon) then we could multiply this by like, a thousand and....i don't even want to think about it! Let's all just be extremely happy that our boy Chris is happy and that Jesse is as happy as any of us would be if WE were engaged to the wonderful Chris Thile! And let's end this discussion before anyone gets REALLY mad!

I am definately dissapointed about Chris's engagement... I am a new fan and think he is incredibly goodlooking. I don't want to be like everyone esle, because I am sure that he hears that a lot. But his voice is just so enchanting. -SIGH- IT's ok... breath 1-2-3....What do you expect? He is very cute, talented...cute, and cute....that's right...oh well......anyways.....how do you guys get to talk to him? That's not fair......But you are right about the like we'd have a chance.....But it is sometimes fun to dream.......WELL darn! Ok......Sean is a cutie too......but he isn't as tall....oh well......I'll stop now!

I really hate to bring this up......but i'm so glad someone else noticed how short Sean is! For a while there, i thought i was hallucinating or something.......but it's all good. He looks like an elf or something from Lord of the Rings maybe. Uh-oh. I hope that's not crossing the line......Sean+Lord of the Rings fantasy....hmmm..........

nitejule
07-23-2002, 06:17 PM
yeah i can see where you are coming from, but shortness isn't anything bad :-) (((((HUGS SEAN)))))) it you were to cross the lotr thing he would be one hott hobbit!! LOL ok i'm such a dork!!!

Guys that are hot and short are a good combination! Since there arent really that many tall girls :) u know :)

Short guys aren't bad things at all... He is a hottie! But for me short guys are bad things because i'm 6'1. IT's SOOO hard finding tall guys! But I know they exist! Some day I'll find one!! But until then I can just drool over famous singers who are tall... and the ones that are short too..[bigeyes]

OK, so I'll take this opportunity to veer wildly off topic and put in a gratuitous plug for my friends in the band Sleeper7 here. Their vocalist/guitarist (and principal songwriter) is probably one of the sweetest, nicest people you'll ever meet... reminds me in many ways of how Chris, Sara and Sean are, though you'd never guess it from looking at his pic... and he's 6'4 AND single :)

Anyway, please check out

http://www.sleeper7.com

and give a listen to their stuff. They're quite different from NC, but very talented, and they're actually moving away from their harder-edged stuff into a more mellow sound these days.

Chip, it's not that serious.....and may I say how I love your name! It's fun to talk about likeing famous people, but in all reality, it's not like I could be a bandie and get to know them.....not right now.....if I had nothing to loose I'd say heck yeah and go for it......but unfortunutely it's not that easy! It's all good.....i'm sure I'll find some tall people in Sweet Home ALABAMA!!!!!!! :D

I don't know about anybody else, but I've found Chris to be very easy to talk to...just go up to him after a show and start a conversation with him, I do it all the time!

yeah he really is an easy person to talk to. he has a lot of things to say too, lol. but thats one of the things that i think seperates nickel creek from the other bands out there. they don't mind interacting with their fans alot, and they are really awesome to talk to!!

I didn't mean that Chris was not easy to talk to....I have met him several times and he has been totally awesome every time. I just wanted to stress the fact that <sorry girls> it's ok to be sad that Chris is engaged <a LITTLE bit sad, but jesse is probably an awesome girl so we shouldn't be TOO sad, because our boy is happy!> but that none us ever really had a chance anyway.

I hope that didn't sound mean, because it wasn't meant to at all. I got nuthin but love for everyone on these boards!

Man, I wish they would have a concert near me so I could get to talk to them.....that's so unfair! Um........what was I gonna say.........???........OH! I am happy for Chris too...he is a great guy and desreves someone equally great! Now I am so inspired to play the mandolin.....But I don't know how! I would love to be outgoing and go talk to Chris after a show, like OutburstJessi , but I'm so shy I wouldn't know what to say. I'd just probably stand there like this>[bigeyes] and look weird. then kick myself later for not saying anything, hee hee.[bang] I'm a wimp.:D

Amanda
08-03-2002, 12:55 AM
HE HE HE! Well, I am not shy at all....and that sometimes is a problem, because I talk way to much when I'm nervous and I would definately be nervous around them! I probably wouldn't know what to say either but once I started I would proabably be taken away by security......[lolol] BUt it WOULD be nice if I had the oppurtunity! I really wish the would come near alabama! I will have to check out their listings of their concerts and go!
The problem is, not many of my friends actually like blue grass but it's so different! It's so uplifting ya know.....it's not honky tonk or red neckish you know.....i don't think the genre should even be classified as country oh well.....my friends just aren't like me......
But their just missing out! :p

NCFan4Ever
08-03-2002, 10:33 AM
I understand how you feel Amanda.....all of my friends refuse to listen to any of the music that I do just because it's classified as bluegrass. It's sooo frustrating that people will be so close-minded about music. They just think that they are too cool to listen to bluegrass. But I think that they're just not cool enough.....

Sarah9230

yeah my sister's hate me because when a nickel creek song comes on I run through the house and crank up the volume on the nearest TV! And when they wake up early, they watch music videos and somewhat trip upon a Nickel Creek video and run back to my room just to find that I already have it jamming on my TV. Ha I love it!

NCFan4Ever
08-04-2002, 12:06 AM
I know! I go to CMTs site pretty much every day to check their schedule and see if they are playing a nickel creek video that day, then I blast it all the way up when it comes on! my family gets so mad, especially when the video comes on at like, 3 in the morning!

nitejule
08-04-2002, 12:32 AM

Amanda
08-04-2002, 12:41 AM
Well, I don't have CMT but their cd stays in my cd player in my car.....oh, which i forgot to mention.....I got in a wreck today...so my cd player is no longer in my car....and neither is my Nickle Creek CD. It is awful! I was rear ended and I rear ended someone else. I have major wip lash! Not to mention my car is pretty much dead! So I guess I'll just put my Nickle Creek cd in my cd player at home... -sigh- [sob]

That sucks Amanda! I hope youre ok! Ya know, I always used to make fun of people who got rear ended and were like oh my neck hurts but the I got rear-ended and the car that hit me was going so slow that it didnt even damage my car, but it jolted me forward and my neck really did hurt! I guess I learned my lesson!

Wow, that was wayy off-topic. oh well. anyway, I hope you arent too shook up Amanda....and at least your NC cd wasnt damaged in the wreck!

I'm thrilled for them! I'm jealous that I haven't been to a concert and haven't met them or the band yet.

Anyone know when the wedding's set for?

Doris

Amanda
08-05-2002, 10:27 PM
Doris, Me too about the whole concert thing.....i have yet to see them in concert or meet them. I am unsure of the wedding... just go to the nickle creek website and go under news or something like that and i'm sure it will say something about it. Their website is very informative and they even write in journals and post them so you can see what they've been up to. Also, some members online here have websites that are very informative. You should browse around and check them out! [run]

Amanda, sorry about the wreck. I've been in one before too and I know it's just awful. Anyway, I also know what you mean about the music. I am also from Alabama and it seems like everyone my age either listens to country and shuns anything bluegrass (or even associated with bluegrass) or listens to rap or pop and rock and does the same thing. It is totally frustrating that people can be so close minded and think that artists aren't any good unless they sell millions of records and are on tv and radio all the time![bang]

Too bad everyone can't be like us, huh?:) :p :)

Amanda
08-06-2002, 07:21 PM
Yep, Because people who don't want to listen to music like this are really missing out! Nickle Creek is so uplifting. It's really weird to me... I just recently started listening to their music and I love it! Most of my friends are pretty open minded about it I guess, but it's not really their thing. I love all kinds of music and listen to pretty much what ever floats my boat! [noise] So, you live in ALABAMA too! That's great! I wish they would come here and have a concert huh! Oh well....maybe they will at least go near by to flordia or georgia..... maybe tennessee.....and we could catch their concert! That would be AWESOME!![wowOwow]

Amanda,

I agree, they're great with the site but I had trouble finding anything on the web on Chris' engagement alone. Privacy is always an issue. I don't think Chris would want to let the date of the occasion slip out too soon if at all. Of course, it wouldn't be of much help without the location. :)

It would be nice if we could all have an online party on the wedding day though...That's what I had in mind.

Get better!

I so agree, They are just getting started! I know that they will be in the music scene for a very long time. I can only hope that the changes the group makes in the future will only make them grow! (in music) I can't wait for them to win a HUGE Award. I was sooooooo upset when Trick Pony got an award over them. [bang]
