Violin tips anyone?

Hey to all my fellow Nickel Creek fans!
I am learning to play the Violin/Fiddle and was wondering if any violin players have any tips. I would be grateful for any!

Hey Erika! I am learning to play the fiddle too. The only tips I know to give you are to try to find a good teacher if you can. I had one but she moved away and now it is harder to keep myself motivated and to try new things. Try to just have fun with it and play songs that you like. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself with harder songs either though. Finally, practice whenever you can and you feel like it; don't think you have to practice so long every single day b/c if you do you may get sick of it and quit. I am no expert on playing the fiddle by any means, but I hope some of this could be of some help.:)

Thanx. I had a teacher but don't like him a bit! I think he is a few cherries sort of a fruitcake. We are looking for a new teacher. I learned more out of a book in 10 minutes than I learned from my teacher in 4 weeks! Thank you for your tips. :)
