I am learning to fiddle, which is actually MUCH easier then I thought it would be, but that is me, I was blessed with music... so I pick up on things quickly...but I can't keep my bow from whistling a little bit when I try and make a grace note... can you give me any advise?

... Thankies!

make sure you practice your powing on open strings.. and listen.. they reveal all!

the whistling may be from several things..
1- not enough bow contact wiht the string.. you are skating over the string.. put more rosin on.
2- you are hitting to hard.. work to get a smoother attack, wiht no squeak on the initation of the bow change...

3- your RH fingers are not going down quick enough, making the string no have a solid fundemental of vibration.. make sure you move your grace note quickly.. and practce on trills for consistancy..

it coudl be 100 other items.. i would need to hear or possibly see you play to give better feedback

Make sure you have enough rosin on you bow, and make sure you don't have too much rosin! Practice alternating between the normal note and the grace note slowly, so as to get it really clean before even attempting to go fast. <><

Make sure you have your fingers down firmly on the strings. That was a problem that i had. And you also have to be quick. Practice makes perfect.

wow. thank you.... also... its not the rosin....It must be my fingers not going down fast enough...but I have only been playing for a month, so I don't expect to be good yet....although I can play a few of her solo's flawlessly, only because I was blessed with musicability and NO life whatsoever... do you have any good practices that might make my fingers a tad bit quicker?

thank you so much
