Who do you like best?

Hey whats up? I'm just kinda curious who is the fans favorite thats all. Mine is probably Chris. What about you?

Not to come down on you or anything...but we've already has this same question come up a couple times.
Seeing as I assume you play mandolin, going from your 'handle', your favorite is probably gonna be Chris. (as you said) Just like a guitar player's favorite is gonna be Sean. And so on and so forth. (generalizing of course, always some exceptions)

They all are extremely gifted and talented in their own right, as is more than adequately displayed through other ventures such as their solo projects, as well as their own contributions to the group. As people have previously said, we need to be careful how we voice those 'favortisms' so as not to hurt anyone unintentionally. Maybe they don't even care, and maybe they expect it or are used to it. But if you take any one of the three out of the equation, you only have individuals, and not the group that we've all come to love, as well as for some who have even come to know them.

I won't draw any spiritual analogies or parables here, but I think I'd prefer to just think of them as 3 in 1...the group...Nickel Creek.

We're gonna associate with one more than the other, naturally according to our own inclinations, whatever they may be. But to choose favorites, one over the other, could be unintentionally hurtful, or evoke any number of other emotions, or be taken wrong by anyone, even though you have no ulterior motives or intended as such. You could say it's akin to a parent choosing a 'favorite' child. They're not action heroes or figurines...

Sorry for the rambling and 'preaching'......just one man's point of view..... personally, I'm taken by them all...they're all amazingly gifted and talented in their own right.
Learn from one to develope another....Chris plays far more than just the mandolin.......and that naturally lends to abilities, and the way you hear things or approach things, on other instruments.

i agree!!
i just think that we all love them all, as a group. its not kewl to pic faves, it might make one of the others feel bad :( so lets just show love to NICKEL CREEK as a whole!!

Hi,

I don't see any problem with stating your favorite in the band, as long as is based on their musical abilities. For instance, I prefer Chris thile because I believe he is forging a new style/path for mandolin. I like Chris the best because he is willing to try new things, explore with his mandolin. In this, there should be nothing wrong. Uriah, what you have said may be true, however, there is a good side to this. For instance, while sharing opinions of who looks best/is hottest IS irrelevant (I agree completely there), sharing who's your favorite musically is fun and doesn't hurt anyone.

There's nothing wrong with admitting to having a favorite NCer. We have a separate thread on this board for each of them for just that reason.

They're not fused at the hip...they're three separate people with different abilities, sounds, etc. Each will attract his or her own set of fans.

In our house we have two Chris fans, one Sara, one Sean and one who won't tell. Our preferances are mostly based on the instrument or musical style, or his or her presentation, etc....but sometimes it's just that one seems more appealing than another. Like looking at a pen full of new puppies...one just jumps out at you! That's very typical in fandom. And we are certainly all card carrying fans around here!

I like all the NCers the same. They are all SOOOO talented. I don't have a fav. But I admire Sara because she is my insperation to keep at the violin which I am learning to play.[run]

Although I love all the NC'ers to death....I have to admit that I think Sean is my favorite (though I hate to use that word!) It was because of him that I really became dedicated ( i guess that's the word we're using now instead of obsessed, lol) to Nickel Creek...when he came up to me at Merlefest...it was the absolute best moment of my life and i will never forget it!
