The song was Nice Dream...a Radiohead cover. It was good, wasn't it? I've waited 5 long years to go to a Nickel Creek show, and the one last night was amazing. Here's what I jotted down...does anyone know some of the more specific covers or songs that were melded into the others? If you could fill in the missing spaces in the following set list, that'd be great!

When in Rome
Reasons
Stumptown
Jealous of the Moon
Best of Luck
Somebody More Like You
Smoothie
WYCBD
Nice Dream
First and Last Waltz
Helena
Anthony
Tom Bom -> something
Toxic
Out of the Woods
Lighthouse
Scotch and Chocolate

e.
Doubting Thomas
Cripple Creek ->
The Fox

* This Side was in there somewhere

Highlights included:

- A chilling version of Jealous of the Moon...I saw Chris give Sean a 'we got it' look at the close of the song...you could feel the emotion so clearly, and they themselves knew they'd conveyed it well.

- Toxic...hilarious Britney cover...very tight rendition.

- The whole encore...Doubting Thomas was so introspective. Absolutely beautiful. The Cripple / Fox medley was smoking...I love Sara's foot stomping throughout.

They didn't talk a lot...mostly just solid, amazing playing. The only song I didn't care for was Out of the Woods...perhaps they didn't blend as well as usual and sounded a little tired of it. The entire evening was fabulous. If it was possible for music, instead of blood, to run through a someone's views...then it's true for Nickel Creek.

I just got home from a weekend trip to Minneapolis, MN. Last night I experienced my first Nickel Creek concert. My hands are shaking as I type this. I don't know when I'll recover. Did anybody else see this show? Not many people I know even know who Nickel Creek is, so I've got to tell somebody how amazing it was!

The Ditty Bops were great. I was smiling the whole time. Did anyone else think their performance was like a minature vaudville show? Juggling, a man on stilts, pirate songs! Yay! It was fun. By the way...did I see Sara run across stage behind the man on the unicycle? Fun, fun, fun.

Then Nickel Creek took the stage. I get goose bumps just thinking about the show. I had heard a lot of people say they sound even better live than they do in the studio. I didn't believe it until last night. I was blown away by their sound. I have to say Helena is incredible on the cd, but no words can describe what it's like hearing it live. And then, when they just get going and improvising on a song like The Smoothie Song or The Fox, I have no words. Maybe one...YOWZA!

Now comes the part in my rambling where I have to thank everyone who has posted stories about waiting around outside after the show. I did...just hoping they'd bring out their instruments for a little show...and they did! Who does that? I've never been to a concert where the artists are willing to chat with and play for people after the show. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. All three of them came out--even Sean (I read that he doesn't always do that)! So did Mark, and a couple of the guys from the Ditty Bops, and I believe the lead singer for Semisonic was there too! Crazy!

I'm all aflutter. On a Nickel Creek high. Who needs drugs when there's music like this?

Okay, if you're still reading this thanks for letting me share my enthusiasm.

Happened in Milwaukee too. Nickel Creek is a band that loves to play and it shows!!! One of the best shows I have seen next to Pink Floyd.

Whoops...I didn't mean Out of the Woods...that one was okay...I meant When You Come Back Down. It wasn't quite as good as I've heard it on previously taped shows.

But the show was...A-MAZING

I don't know if anyone caught the after-show street jam in Minneapolis...they played about ten songs, signed some autographs, answered a few questions...It was my first Nickel Creek show so it was definitely an amazing experience. Hard to believe that they had the energy to do it after a long day (Prairie Home Companion and the concert)..needless to say my respect for Nickel Creek just grew about 500%.

NC did a great cover of Toxic ( A Prince song) at the Minnesota show... did they play that anywhere else? Where did they play after the show? We looked around a bit outside but could not find them, and could not wait around too long cause we had young kids with us. :-(

It was a great show, really enjoyed it. Some of the extended Jams inside the songs/tying together songs were unbelievable.

Yea, NC has been covering Toxic in quite a few places. I was at the Minneapolis show, and I was proud to be a part of their biggest audience yet to date!

I did not bring a camera but there was a guy sitting near us named terry who is a wild life photographer from montana who is trying to get permission to use NC music in his films and he was taking tons of pictures with a big fancy digital camers... dont know if he has a web site or if those pics will end up on it.

I thought they just said it was their biggest show in MN to date, and then said that there may have been more at their Basicica block party aperance ( I was there and it was a big crowd.) The Usher at the State theater told me he thought there were about 1700 at the show, the state holds about 2100.

I'm pretty sure they said that this audience was twice as big as their biggest one before ... except for their outside concert .. I think anyway, thats what my entire family heard anway.

They played right around the corner from the entrance to the venue...kind of by their tour bus. There were only about thiry people there. They played for about 45 minutes I think..I am not really sure what the names are to a lot of the songs they played. I do know that they did a Beck song -Where its at, a song about cocaine (not the Clapton song), a Dylan song, and You Don't Have to Move that Mountain...other than that I am not really sure. I got most of it recorded so if anyone has some shows they wanna trade just let me know!

p.s.-here's the link to a picture of me and Chris after the show..greatest moment of my life, so far.

My pics: here (http://photobucket.com/albums/c159/8oclockbean/Nickel%20Creek%2010-29-2005/)

It was VERY cool being close enough to see and hear Chris' stomping and having each member come play almost directly in front of where I was sitting...fun night :)

man, I heard stories about them staying after...but I was with my friend/ex-boyfriend who was being a pain in the butt that night...:(

I know...it is the best. That is the only way to see a NC show. It really makes you feel like they are just playing to you.

Actually it is a Cathy Dennis song performed by Britney. I thought that the music was by Prince but I guess it is not.

After FINALLY getting back home I'll chime in that the Minneapolis concert rocked and was completely worth the 13 hour greyhound bus ride each way. And that after show jam was great, as well. Who'd have thought 4th times a charm and I got to finally see one of those? Needless to say, I'm way too pumped and just spent like $50 on a ticket to the Seattle show (my home...aww!) and am planning a trip next month out there to see them play one more time! :)

I'll be getting my photos back in a day or so, so I'll upload my after show concert photos and post them out here.
