Hey! I was so excited tonight because I heard This Side play on our local country music station. It was really odd to hear their music on the radio because I've never heard it before. Has anyone else heard them on the radio other than NPR?

In the Twin Cities, the only station I have heard them on (besides Public Radio's Prairie Home Companion ) is Cities 97. When Smoothie Song came out as a single they started playing it alot. A live version of Smoothie Song even wound up on their Sampler CD that came out that year.

They have been giving When in Rome quite a bit of play in their rotation in the past few months.

So we have one good station up here....sort of.

In Chicago, WXRT-FM played Smoothie Song quite a bit. They are now playing When in Rome.

When NC was making their promotional tour for WSTFD, WXRT hosted the live concert where NC played the album beginning to end. That concert will be on WXRT Sunday, 11/27/05 at 9:00 pm Central Time (pretty sure about the time, but not positive). You can live stream the station.

This afternoon I was in the Dollar Store, and of all things This Side came on the radio!!! [eek!!] Now I historically loathe Dollar Store Music, so this surprised me more than it normally would. Either they are trying to improve their music selection or they didn't realize what they were doing. Whatever it was it made my day !!!!

Another place I hear NC is on XM radio (satellite). They get it at the coffee shop I work at. I hear them the most on The Loft, and Hear Music. Hear Music is done by the same people who do Starbucks's music so you might hear them there to. But I wouldn't know, I ban Starbucks. They have a great atmosphere but they are too commercial, they roast their coffee to long and their beans are not fresh (I have a couple other pet-peeves I won't list hear).

Back to NC, I hear Somebody More Like You, and Can't Complain. I have also heard Empire Falls (from Deceiver) and some MAS stuff on these stations. It really makes me so much happier when I hear them on the radio. I kind of get stunned and can't function momentarily. [shock] It is great !!!!

I heard When In Rome on a FM radio station that plays random music. It was very cool! The country station here will occasionally play Smoothie Song, but not often.

I know what you mean. When I hear them when I am driving I almost wreck! I have to do my little Nickel Creek cheer dance. People think I am insane. You should have seen me the day I got in my car and their live Loft Session concert was on unexpectly! It was a happy drive home!

On principle I never listen to the radio, since I have this theory that there's nothing good on EVER. But the other day I was in my car changing from one CD to another, and in between I heard about 1 second of radio play, which I INSTANTLY recognized as This Side. I almost freaked out, I SCREAMED out loud and listened to the whole song that was playing on the radio, while simultaneously crying out No! Not the radio! They can't be FAMOUS!!!! The good news was it was a college station, and not a commercial station, so I was ok after that.
But hearing NC on the radio in Cleveland? Unheard of. I was pretty excited.
