Hey Thillefan,
I don't actually own a mandolin of my own, but, I'm picking it up little by little each time I get my hands on one. I play guitar and piano. I would like some of the tablatures you have, if you wouldn't mind. My email address is bugamile@aol.com.
Thanks so much,

Hey Guys...I would love to send you my tab, but first I realized I should probabley talk to Chris about it first. Sorry...I should have thought about that BEFORE I offered. Most likely, I will send it to you within the month, I think Chris won't mind. I'll get back to you on that okay?

I spoke to Chris after the Mountain Stage show and told him I was playing at a Coffee House in a few weeks. I asked him how they felt about other people playing their stuff and would it be ok if I played some of their songs. He said, That's cool. Not too many people do covers of our songs! Sean will be excited to hear you're playing one of his songs. (I'm playing This Side)
So, although I don't know about the 'sharing tablature' issue, I can say they are cool with people playing their stuff. Or maybe just me, cause I'm a super-staahhhhh.

If you are sending out mandolin tabs I would love to be on the list. My email: mjmiller@unmc.edu
Just for the record I have a different perspective to share regarding the tab sharing issue. I think we're taking ourselves a little seriously to need permission from Chris to play and learn his music. Afterall isn't this the ultimate form of admiration/flattery. Listening to and playing Nickel Creek music is promoting it on too many levels to mention. I would venture to guess that the majority of the members of this chat would purchase any tab book that NC or Chris or Sean published. I know I would. Until then I would like to pursue playing music that inspires me without feeling guilty.

we are trying to figure out the details of what they auctually do care about especially in live tradign and tabs- it could easily go either way here-
they have said many times,- that they don't like the online transfer of their music [this may or may not include tab] via napster, email or other means.....
they don't want full lyrics posted due to copyright reasons [a few lines may be for clarity sake.]
also remember tabs would fall under copyright rules-
on the other side, [as bugamile can tell you], they think it is cool when people play their stuff live. and they do appreciate it, and take it as a compliment when people play their stuff-
so what ever you do- you need to think this over- rather than just assuming. untill we figure out what they want. [which hopefully will be soon]

aslo by trading tabs online and not buying thier books, you are taking away profit. after all, i'm sure that the fans who live in cities that don't have bluegrass festivals or concerts (like portland, or) can be able to see them because they are more about being able to connect to people than take thier money. the more money they get, they can create new shows.

We here have a rule about trading tabs:
try tabbing it first.
When you do this, it shows that you are making a valued attempt to learn the song instead of just getting it like you would from a tab site. Robin and I both have Power Tab Editor if you would like it. That's how we trade tabs. Also I sometimes tab using Notepad as well. Let me know if you've got some tabs that you'd like to trade.
