I know that a lot of people who are fans of Nickel Creek are fans of Dave Matthews Band as well.....and I was just wondering if any of you have or have heard the album breathe which is a band doing bluegrass covers of some of the best DMB songs....it is an awesome album, even for someone who is anti-dmb (like me!)

No, havent heard that, but I'll have to check it out! Why would you be anti-DMB? Just curious..I like him and Nickel..I think that their music has a common link in that both groups' music is honest, passionate, and emotional....just a thought!

I guess it is not really fair for me to be anti-dmb, but here's the reason:
I have like, 20 friends who(by the way have never even heard nickel creek) will tell me constantly how much nickel creek sucks and dmb rules. so i guess i have hostility towards those people and it just projects onto dmb.

Hey, I am new to these boards and I have not posted with the fervor of some other members but I had to on this topic. I have seen, however never bought, the Breathe CD, but now I might check it out.
I am a big fan of Dave Matthews and when I saw Nickel Creek in Milwaukee (at summerfest, which was an amazing show by the way) they were jamming to a cover of Taxman and I thought to myself, You know what would be wicked, if they covered a Dave tune. I would love to see them cover something like Ant's Marching, the slightly bluegrass influenced violin/sax intros and outros would lend itself to some interesting solos by Chris, Sara, and Sean; or perhaps even something more obscure like Cry Freedom,Proudest Monkey or One Sweet World (multiple harmonies for the voices on One Sweet World I think would sound amazing). Just wondering what DMB/Nickel Creek fans think about this? Just a thought, I think it would be cool to see what new directions Nickel Creek could take a Dave song in.
Always,
Dan

i think it would be amazing to see NC cove a DMB tune....one of the ballads ....oh!! #41!!!! thats my favorite DMB song, cant get enough of it! anyone of the songs you suggested would be amazing to hear...NC played Taxman at Grey Fox this year as an encore and they got the crowd rocking! i was even lucky enough to snag a front row seat! :D
