Today i was gutted . . . found out that the Nickel Creek gig at The Arches in Glasgow Scotland is over 18's only. Ive waited for ages for NC to come back to Scotland and now i can't even go.

Sucks . . . . . . spesh bcoz i got all my mates into them and we started up a kind of Folk Rock/ ceilidh group called Ecosse and we wer all goin to go to the NC gig.

Oh well . . . fake I.D anyone?

There was a show like that in Portland. My friends bought tickets who were younger than 18. THey went and got turned down. They asked that they see someone in higher power (like the manager ), and were let in since Nickel Creek doesn't really have over 18-year-old content.
If you're willing enough, get some tickets and then go to the concert line and see if you can get in...........

I'd get in touch with the venue and see if they would allow you admission should you be accompanied by an over 18. I think the Arches is mainly a bar though so you might still have some trouble - King Tut's is usually the same. If all else fails there's always Edinburgh I guess - as far as I'm aware they have no age restriction.

yeh my girlfriend was going to get me tickets for my Christmas and her mum went to pick them up and they said that we wouldn't get in because they would check for i.d. and yeh The Arches is like a bar so that holds us back even more.

That really sucks - I forget how annoying being under 18 is (me being the decrepit 21 year old I am!). The Edinburgh gig is on a Friday night so is there any chance you could persuade someone to give you a lift/catch a train with you? I think the last train back is 11:30pm or such so you shouldn't have to miss any of the gig to travel. I really hope you manage to sort something out!

I am going to The Arches for a gig mid-January, I'll suss the venue's strictness if you like. Hopefully the NC tix won't sell out before then, and if my findings are favourable, then maybe you will still be able to get some tickets.

It's a bummer when you just wanna see decent live music but venues have these restricting policies to thwart you.

That's really a bummer :( when I saw them, the venue had bars in it but they put big X's on my hands to show I was under age. I'm only 16, so you'd think it'd be blatantly obvious, but the guy still asked me if I was 21!

While asking if you can be let in despite being under 18, possibly you can offer to pay the charge for the drinks you won't be having. I don't know if this is really a good idea. I never tried it myself, but it would make up for any lost revenue by the pub.

Maybe your band can play before going in and then beg to be let in.

If it were me I'd try any and all options.[think]

I don't think the cover thing should be an issue - venues in the UK rarely, if ever, run on cover charges. What iamblt was saying about stamping is a good idea though - perhaps you could ask them about that? And adult accompaniment?
