Hey everybody....
things have been rally busy here so I haven't been posting much but I wanted to check and see if I am the only one that does this. I have saved all the new clips in my little realone player as a seperate playlist and I have just been listening to all the clips on continous play for a while now.

This morning when I was listening I was just so filled with happiness and love and I just felt so overwhelmingly proud of them. I have like most of you, met them after the concerts etc...but it isnt as if I consider them someone I know. I think it is that when I met them, they seemed so normal, but at the same time so abnormal. THey are regular people who make this fantastic music, but still stay down to earth and hold this personal faith. The way they conduct themselves is so admirable.
So I m proud of them, for making what sounds like s very good cdso far, and for remaining true to themselves musically....

does anyone else feel like this?

I am proud of Nickel Creek in the way that I am proud of my friends' bands. It is more than just this appreciation, it is a personal sort of appreciation, like it is my friend that is doing so well...which is odd to me because I have never had this sort of pride for someone I don't know. I guess it is jut because beyong being so talented, they have really made themselves accesible.....and I am just rambling..so I'm gonna end this now ;)

Nickel Creek is the coolest!!!

I totally agree with you katy! I think that no matter how big Nickel Creek gets they will always seem like their fans friends!

I would have to say that i am more thankful towards them than i am proud of them. i am thankful for their music because it gives me something to relate to, and i can relate to it very well. i just love the lyrics and the stories they tell. their music is full of hope. and yes, i too often put the songs on repeat and listen forever.[noise]

I think gratitude is a big part of it as well. I am thankful that they make music that is full of hope and love without being overwhelmingly sappy or touched-by-an-angel-knock-you-over-the-head style cheesy. I think that they are story tellers that feel compelled to share stories that celebrate life rather than focusing on the negative aspects.
Essentially everyone who knows me has at least heard of nickel Creek because it has touched me in such a way that I can't imagine other people not loving it as much as I do. That is a big part of why I like this board, you all understand how I can feel so full of love and respect for a group of people that I have met once.

and once again I am rambling...so I will post now :)

PS I am so eager to have this cd. I sing Green & Gray all the time. I know the rest of the tune from hearing it in concert, but the only words Iknow well are the ones on the clip... I love their lyrics, for their simplicity, yet symbolic nature. I cannot wait until I can just spend some time with the liner notes learning the words :) and I have resorted to rambling again :)....I'm really done now.

Katy A post is never rambling when it's interesting. [noise] And I love story-telling lyrics, too. Having never been to a real concert, I don't know the words to many of their new songs. But there are only what...24?....more days to wait!

I agree.....my favorite songs are the songs that tell a story.....like The Lighthouse's Tale on the NC CD, You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive on Patty Loveless's new one, and The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn on the new Alison/Union Station one. I just love it when I can listen to a story song and feel like I am actually IN the story in the song!

It seems that with Nickel Creek even their non-story songs tell stories. For example Reasons Why- astrangement within a relationship from one persons point of view. For me it is a story about how we can turn away fom God and blame him for not being there, justify our actions etc....

When you come Back down...sounds to me like a letter. I think most of us have had someone that we are waiting for to come back down, I think most of us have been the person that has to go away.

I think NIckel Creek is able to make most of their songs story songs because they put passion into them. Since they are storytellers, they express the songs in that way.

BTW- I love New Favorite, but my favorite song on it is still Lucky One :)

i agree with all of you. Nickel Creek's music touches me everytime i listen. i'm very proud of them and how they present themselves. seeing them in concert made me realize how down to earth they are. i don't really know them but yet i feel like i do. I appreciate them so much for their talent, and one of the things that makes me proud of them most, is their faith in Christ. I think they are such a tremendous testimony even though they don't shove it down people's throat's. In today's world that is just fantastic that they are so open about their faith. they truelly are an awesome group of young people and really wish them true happiness and success because they deserve it!!!!!

p.s. i just bought New Favorite and listen to it all the time. my fav. songs--let me touch you for awhile--the boy who wouldn't hoe corn--mamma cried--bright sunny south.
