I'm planning on recording my first show on the 22nd ( :D ). What kind of equipment does everyone use? I saw some digital recorders for $50-150 and other external mics for $25. Does it matter the quality of the recorder, as long as it has enough space and as you have a good mic? I'm really just not sure what to buy.

I would spend a little more than $25 on a mic. You can find something that is acceptable for around $100, but obvioulsy the more you spend, the better the quality. In theory of course. Just ask questions at the music store where you will be shopping.

I don't think there are any digital recorders in the $50-$150 range that record in anything other than low bit-rate MP3, but I could be wrong. I think those would primarily be just voice recorders. The quality of the recorder matters quite a bit at the low end of the spectrum. At a minimum you would want a minidisc or a digital recorder that records in WAV, like the iRiver 120 or the no longer made Creative Jukebox III.
