Does anyone know how early we can get there, like if they open their doors at a certain time and when? I know this is a stupid question, but I have only really been to outdoor concerts and festivals where you can get there whenever. And when you do the will call thing. Do they give you specific seats right away when you call in or is it just a first-come first-serve section? Because i did not receive any seat numbers or anything. Thanks for your help!

I have never been to Salem, seeing as I'm from PA. I drove past it on the drive down to Tennesse to see NC, but have no clue about the town itself. But yeah, if you guys can think of any ideas of how to meet up that would be awesome! I am definitely looking forward to this. :)

yeah, i've never been there either, i'm from wv and have no idea where salem is..but i think it would be totally awesome to meet some you peeps from the fan club!

woo hoo! this is great! ummm.. i got a seat in f2 and then i got one via musictoday.com (ruth is that where you got yours?) strange thing is when i bought that ticket a while back they were selling them as general admission, and i dont remember if i asked for will call or mail or if mail was even an option so i just bought two tickets. im such a nut! musictoday wrote me a little note saying they would get up with us for seat assignments.. as far as will call goes, if you got your tix thru musictoday, im assuming if they dont email you, you will probably want to email them and bug them for a seat assignment prior or it may just be a surprise! will call normally holds the seat you get when you buy the tickets, so im thinking you ran into that general admission snag, if it was ga, we would HAVE to get there early for a good seat! this is hilarious! the blind leading the blind in salem! i will be sure to swap any/all cell numbers prior to the show as well to be safe, and ruth, depending on what my second seat looks like, if that one is better than what you have, you may want to steal away and sit in that second seat i got, of course, it all depends on what musictoday comes back with for seat assignments. im hoping the early birds dont get screwed on that deal! matt, chip? any thoughts?????

I'm hoping to head up there myself with a group from my community. We are coming from North Carolina. Then Winston-Salem area. I have no idea what is up there but if I get a chance I'll try to check it out for everyone and let you know. I'm not that far. 'Bout an hour and a half.

I e-mailed musictoday, the people I got the tickets from, and they said that the will call seats are general admission, so I have to get there as early as possible. Now, gotta find out when the doors open and all of that good stuff. Man, this is so crazy. The concert is still two months away and I am already looking forward to it so much. We are gonna have an incredible time!

ha ha! an hour and a half? from salem? wait! im in virginia beach and i think its gonna take me almost four hours to get to salem.. of course i just woke up so you could be talking about something totally different! ;)

general admission? how does that work? the assigned seats they are selling are on the floor so where will general admission seats go? or is the show now ALL general admission?

CHIP, MATT, ANYONE? who can we check on this with??? kathy??

we should ALL get together after the show or whatever. im assuming anyone coming from out of town is working on staying overnight, yes? if so we could maybe do something after the show or something..

maybe we can find a good meeting spot at the venue, but i guess if its general admission we SHOULD wait till afterwards!

Well, I bought assigned seats from Ticketmaster and it cost me 60 bucks for two tickets....how much were the general admission ones?

I definately think we should all meet up, either before or after the show, it doesnt matter, but I would really like to meet some of you guys that I see all the time on the boards!

hey! this is great! theres a bunch of us going! very cool! ;) to put your mind at ease, the general admission ticket i bought was 27.50 plus whatever fees, so it was about the same price!

i think im gonna start digging around for some ideas on how to meet up with everyone! it will be so fun to meet you guys! ;)

okay. just fyi.. there is an econolodge, twenty minutes from the salem venue. im gonna stay there. i take too many road trips to stay at the hilton! ;) but its the one at 308 orange avenue nw in roanoke 24016..

i will try to get in early to check in to the hotel and what not, maybe it would be easier to get together after the show, say hi to guys and find something cool close by...

and the hotel was just another thought... fifty bux a night for two people and if some of us can stay at the same hotel, we could have even more fun!

you can book it on travelocity if you use it. for two with two beds its like 49 bucks a night (plus tax and gratuity) but hey, im not picky! so yeah! book a room! that would be great. i will there under my credit card name erin nowell. hee hee.

and actually, to see me go to nitejule's website under the fan thing, and im in there, long dark red hair, with sunglasses. last time i checked my fan shots were at the top of that section...

or if you want i can email you something so you know who youre looking for!

so if anyones on the waiting list for lexington, ahem, mel! ;)

heres the cheapo econolodge less than two miles from the venue, you can cancel your reservations there up to 4pm the day of arrival.. so it might be good to reserve it just in case.. i know my silly butt did! ;)

Hi guys!

It looks like we are in for a double treat. The NC schedule page now has Gillian Welch playing in Salem with Nickel Creek on the 4th. I just hope that this won't take away too much of their playing time. The concerts I have been to of theirs have been just them playing. Well anyway, it's gonna be great. Hmm...I still haven't gotten my seat numbers from Ticketmaster yet. I hope the mix-up about general admission isn't too confusing. :D Take care!

I am not in that area, but if I could go, I would. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings are absolutely spine-tingling performers, and should make for an incredible musical evening along with Nickel Creek.

I will be attending the Salem show fer sure, though! And I might go to the Halloween show at the Patriot Center (w/ Willie Nelson).

Soooo, Bekka, I know what you look like via Christy's picture page. What's the game plan for meeting up? I just wanted to get everything verified cuz I know when I get to the concert I will be so excited I won't be able to think sane thoughts.

it was great meeting you and your bro! what a fun time!! i could kick myself for leaving my camera at the hotel! talk about photo ops! pardon my french but damn! we will get em next time! i cant get over how small that venue was! we should definitely go back if they play again and maybe this time my alternator wont blow on me and i can get to the show on time and hang after cuz i dont have to push my car to mechanic in the a.m.! ;) im hoping someone got that one recorded. taxman and girls just wanna have fun were awesome!!! and you are such a sweetie! and we only missed lowell at the show! lowell, where were you?! ;) what was the name of that fourth song they played for the encore, i know the two above and i'll fly away, what else am i forgetting?! ha ha! and next time melanie and i will have to stay someplace other than the ghetto! lordy i couldnt believe that! it wasnt too creepy though, thank goodness! im still smiling from friday though! wait! we dont even know anyone who was taking photos do we?! ack, what a bummer. like i say though! next time! woo hoo!

Awesome. Do you know that was my first concert ever? And I'm 32!

I was with a guy friend of mine (like a brother) and my 12 year old son. We had a blast!

But I was so ticked to get an email Monday that they would be in Charlotte on Tues. Man that is like an hour from my home instead of having to drive more than 2 to Salem. Well, anyway...

I took my camera but had to take it back to the car...Dummby me didn't know you weren't supposed to have 'em in there and when he asked me what it was I told the truth. Had to truck it back out to the car...:rolleyes:

I wish I could have been on Sarah's side though I couldn't see her playing very well.

Was it just me or did everyone in that place seem to know each other? All the people around us were waving at people and saying There's so-and-so. I felt so out of place.

I wanted them to play When You Come Back Down. But everything else was perfect. Did you see Sean break that string??

I have no clue as to the setlist sorry. I was just there to enjoy.

Biggest regret is that I didn't get to go see them in a festival setting with a better chance of meeting them.

glad you made it lowell! man, i got there so late after my car broke down, i made it just in time to hear the fox and what came after! actually by the time i got there, no one was even taking tickets anymore, we just wandered in, it was too late to worry about the seats so my friend vern and i were kinda by the sound board, but im dancer so i couldnt have sat anyway! ;) it did seem a lot of folks knew one another, though from where, im not sure. i think the bluegrass circles in va are kinda small close knit groups! you guys crack me up with the travel time stuff! i think it took us around six hours each way to see the show! i wanted to do cary and charlotte also, but alas, im not a trust fund baby! ;) im not sure how some did it, but there were definitely cameras after the show and they were so cool and patient about taking time with everyone!!!which is always fun to see! so lowell, hee hee, youre one of the older crowd too huh? i never thought 31 would feel so old! lol! all the girls are cutie pies and very sweet, im sorry we didnt find you! let me know when you go to another show or if they book mf, we should all meet up again! carolina is a bit of a drive for me too, but i dont mind it one bit! i cant wait to get em back to the norva here in town! but road trips are the best therapy! ;) im looking at all the nj and nyc dates.. thats like a long week of nc gigs.. i need another visa card! lol!

well damn! i guess we will have to cross our fingers on the photos thing, i hope someone got some to post for us!

That concert was so incredibly awesome, and it was so neat meeting ya'll. Bekka, you went through so much in just getting there. But at least you got to talk to them all and got Chris's saliva and teeth marks on your sharpie! Yup, its the little things that count. :) My brother and I noticed the 'everybody knows everybody else' thing also. We felt so out of place. We're like, yeah, we're from Pennsylvania. Think we'll see anyone we know? Haha. anyway. If anyone has pictures please post them!!!! Okay, gotta run, catch ya'll on the next road trip!

I live about 3 hours from Philly. They NEED to go there! That would be so cool to have them here in PA and not have to drive to Virginia and Tennessee to see them. :) But, what am I saying, I love road trips, and va is so beautiful (and has some pretty awesome caves). Lowell, the next time you go to see them, just hang out afterwards and they will most likely come out. They are really good about that.
