In case you guys haven't seen it, there's a great in-depth audio interview (22 minutes long!) with Chris on the Bluegrass Blog. He talks pretty extensively about the reasons behind NC's breakup. Really interesting stuff.

Just caught that interview, and it was quite interesting. Loved hearing Chris's take on what he's up to now, and why it was time to wind down Nickel Creek. Looking forward to seeing what all three will be doing once the Nickel Creek touring fades out. Just bought Sean's Blinders On CD, which is GREAT!. Heard Sara will have a solo venture not too far ahead. Things are looking up! I can certainly confirm I'm one of the newcomers to bluegrass music thanks to Nickel Creek.

Are you friends with Lewis?

He could be. I'm not sure of his real name. Or he could be just one of my fans.:D

I thought this was a really awesome interview. Hearing Chris sing the banjo solo to Watch 'at Breakdown was pretty cool. I love how he just bursts into song while he's talking!

That's even funnier that you commented on that. :-))
After work Friday I was playing Watch'at Breakdown in my car (quite loudly [noise] ) with my windows down and a girl about 18-20 pulls up beside me and says ''What are you listening to?'' The fact that even anyone would be remotely insterested in wondering what it was on the first listen made me smile. I responded with ''Bluegrass''. She said something to the effect of ''oh cool''. Then I proceeded to plug Nickel Creek. :D

I loved that part too. I also now know that Watch 'At Breakdown must only be said really fast. He just sounds so happy with his album and his new band. From this interview, I think that the sound of this new record, which many people have complained about, was intentional. I really wish that it had been released on vinyl. That would be sweet.
I also get the impression from this that Nickel Creek is, essentially, over. He doesn't seem to leave any sort of hope that they will be back together any time in the future. He even says that it's time to put it to sleep. Did anyone else get that impression?

Sorry to agree, but believe you're correct about Nickel Creek ending. It was fun, though, listening to Chris talk about his new band and new CD. It took longer than 22 minutes, since my cheap dial-up system keeps pausing every 4 seconds before continuing on (don't ask).
I'm new to this board, so I don't know anybody -- unless Lewis has friends in Connecticut.
Sorry now that I passed on buying tickets to the Pennsylvania show on the 9th, it would have been great to see NC live before the group disbands.
