You know when you hear a song--particularly one from Nickel Creek--and then the whole day this song is in your head, and while it replays over and over, it seems to lose just a little of its brilliance in the transfer from CD/video to your brain (?). So the next time you hear it, your faith in the band's amazing talent in writing and playing is renewed and surpassed. This is especially true for This Side. I saw the video earlier today, and then I went to church and I was humming it (first mistake--I am completely tone deaf), and then I saw the video again and it blew me away. I suppose it's due to the fact that Nickel Creek gives you so much to listen to without the elements of a track just jostling each other for aural attention. Got that from Chris. And it's impossible to react to the song after hearing it just once. I have mixed emotions about this...emotion. Reply if you have any idea what I'm rambling about, or if you think I'm dumb and should remove myself from these boards. I can take criticism well. At any rate, I sincerely hope you haven't read up to this point. I need sleep. Goodnight.

[lolol] Hey brandolin! I think I know what you are talking about. I know with me, at least with NC songs anyway, sometimes I have to hear the song a few times before I really know what to think of it too. For example, with This Side, I have seen the video five times now (I taped the premiere) and I am just now starting to really appreciate it. At first, I didn't even know if I liked it that well (as much as I hate to admit it). But now it's growing on me and I think it will soon be a new favorite.[noise]

yeah i can see where you are coming from. i must admit i was a little skeptical about this album :slaps self: but i shouldn't have doubted NC the whole album is really quite wonderful. it is very different from the first nc album, but you can still tell that is NC.

the video was very different i must say, but leave it to nickel creek to do something different and make it their own. but i really like the video and the song, and this side stays in my 24/7 lol

I've read some of the skepticisms and anticipations of the 'new' Nickel Creek on some different boards here. While every point was valid, personally, I will follow Nickel Creek wherever they go musically. Music is art, and thus is subjective to taste, region, lifestyle, etc. But I know that the members of Nickel Creek are generally more knowledgeable about good music than I am, and consequently know what is right for them. This reply doesn't really fit the context of the others here, but I had to throw it in somewhere.

P.S. Always listen--no really--do it.

Good line, brandolin! I agree with you totally! Although I might have wondered if NC was going mainstream, I know that no matter what they put out, even if their next album is a nickel creek covers Wierd Al Yankovic classics it will rock!

that would be weird if they did anything like that but i agree i will follow them as well. they just have everything musically going for them and i just would miss that if i didn't have their music in my life.

well they have done a little nirvana, and barenaked ladies, so i don't think it would matter. they would just add nickel creek style and make it happen.

Oh! Barenaked Ladies! I saw NC preform one week at merlefest one time....it was SOOO awesome! I had forgotten all about it till you just reminded me of it christy!

I know! It was like, the last song I expected them to do, but when they did it, I was like of course NC would do that song! its perfect! lol!

yeah and now that we mention it i would like to see them add some other crazy songs to the fox!! i think that it would be awesome!! plus the fox is just a great song anyways!!

thats what i had heard.....they just did an insert of the song in the fox!! it was total craziness!
