The National Anthem. I'm sure he's got a sweet version stashed away somewhere.
Has anyone else thought of awesome songs that they wish Chris Thile would do? I'm not talking cover songs really, but more like classic, timeless songs.

The American Anthem? (Okay, stupid question you don't need to answer that lol)
There are definitly a lot I've thought of... none of them come to mind right now.... I wouldn't mind hearing him sing a version of Silo Lullaby, or Pray your Gods...
That's all I can think of for now.

The Cubs should let Chris do the Anthem at a game at Wrigley, or at least Take Me Out to the Ballgame.
This topic requires some thought. I really would love to hear Chris' re-envisioning of old bluegrass songs, though. Hmmmm....not sure what else. I will have to think about it.

Yes, the national anthem for the United States. I forgot that we had Canadians and Europeans in here. And If you really want to get technical, the term America could apply to Canada as well, lol. And South America, and central america.
Anyway.
Even though I started the topic as songs I would love to hear Thile play AND sing.... I only said that b/c I was thinking of the Star Spangled Banner. But it can be play AND/OR sing.
I would love to hear his rendition of Greensleeves. Just the music. Not that crappy version with words.

I'm sure Chris has wanted to sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame at Wrigley for a long time. It would probably be a dream come true for him.

I've always thought it would be cool if he played Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix. Im sure he could rip it up like a beast on the mountain.

LOL. I thought you were referring to the Radiohead song, The National Anthem.

Ha. Radiohead has a new national anthem? Reminds me of an episode of Aqua Teen where Zakk Wylld and Shake write a new Happy Birthday song...

I don't think Radiohead's song has anything to do with or is trying to be a new National Anthem. Besides, they are from England.

I would love to see him do some Chapin songs. Im a big Chapin Fan for being 18 and it would be neat to see his take on some of his songs. Also he should cover Texas Flood. I bet it could do it better than Stevie Ray himself! lol:D

I'm in the same boat man. In english last year we had to analyse some lyrics, and someone did Cat's Cradle, and they had the Chapin version, but they said it was someone else (Cat Stevens maybe?) and I felt like a total dork when my teacher and I both said it was by Harry Chapin at the same time and everyone else in the class looked totally clueless.

I'll go along with the Chapin songs. Harry was such an amazing songwriter. His songs had this out-of-this-world depth to them that has been sorely missed since his untimely passing. Plus, he was a great humanitarian. I think Chris would sound great on any number of them.

I would like to see chris play 01 Byte 10 cordas by Hamilton de Holanda. I think he could do it... maybe i also think he could do some fun things with the cure, the arcade fire, and rilo kiley

My Own Two Hans by Ben Harper (the acoustic version of course) would be quite something.
