I just have to share my recent experiences with someone who might appreciate them!!! (This new forum is a little confusing to me. It's limiting at least . . . but, oh well.) First, let me tell you about last night! I got to see Chris play with Bela Fleck, a two man show, in my home city, Charleston, WV. It will be aired as part of the Mountain Stage program on Public Radio International. It was unbelievable! Breathtaking! They played a few classical pieces from Bela's new CD and Chris played two selections from his CD: Riddles In The Dark, a duet with Bela who Co-wrote it. Chris mentioned that it is based on the Hobbet's dangerous bout with the Riddles. And, Chris did Laurie Luna as a solo. He mentioned that it was based on musical inspiration from a Bela Fleck song from Tales From An Accoustic Planet, and life experience from France. While in Paris, Chris said, he met a girl who came to be the first he ever bought flowers for. It is one thing to listen to Chris play mandolin. It's another thing entirely to experience it live. To see him feel the music and express himself through his body language and expressions along with the music is Sumum Bonum (the ultimate).
After the show I got to talk with him for a while. He remembered me from concerts past! I've seen them five times now, and I always stay after to see them afterwards. I have just about everything refrenced to N.C. autographed, so, this time I just got a pic with him. I get nervous talking to such a musical GOD! But, I played it cool and I was really happy about it.
Here comes the embarasing part. . . My brother had flown up to New York City for the weekend, so, I had to go to the airport to go pick him up this morning. As I was leaving the airport I saw Chris hefting his luggage out of a cab. He was all by himself, wearing the same hat he had worn at the concert. I said, Oh my God! There is Chris! So, like an idiot I yelled out, Hey Chris!!! And, he looked around to see who was being the retard. He was polite of course and said, Hey man! and waved. I think he recognized me a little. But, I'm sure he didn't feel enriched by the experience and I felt like a fool!
So, there you have it. My awesome Sunday night, Monday morning experiences. Good thing is I get to see the whole Creek band on March 2nd. Maybe I can make amends? We'll see . . .

Hey, don't kick yourself over it... from my experience, most artists in general (and, from my experience, this is definitely true of NC) *genuinely* appreciate their fans, and don't consider it an inconvenience or even think of it as silly for someone to give a brief acknowledgement. And most artists also realize that those sort of things just come with the territory... so I wouldn't sweat it.

Thanks. I haven't worried over it too much. I just aspire to be someone cool. And I think I blew it for at least a little while. I've seen them in concert 6 times, and I always talk to them after the show. So, they kind of recognize me. (It's like, Haven't we met?) I just didn't want to go from friend to super stalker freak. I can't help it if I get so star struck . . . Ha

Well, I was totaly blown away, as usual!!! They are so unbelievable!
The concert was in a very small venue. The Creeksters called it intimate. They seemed to enjoy it. They had a lot of nice things to say about West Virginia!
The music was AWESOME . . . but, that goes without saying.
They said Allison had advised them not to play anything off of their upcoming CD, but, since she wasn't there they could break the rules. So, they played, This Side and Seven Wonders (Sarah mentioned the quest for the lyrics in the fan club!!!).
This was the first time, although I've seen them 6 times in concert, that I got to hear them play Out Of The Woods live! It was awesome!
They did a nice mix of their CD, Chis' and Sean's solo CD's.
My absolute favorite moment in the show was the second encore. They came out totally unplugged, stood at the edge of the stage in front of their microphones and sang When You Come Back Down. It was pure magic. No one made a sound. I don't think people were even breathing! It was so cool.
After the show, as usual, they came out to sign autographs and spend time with the late leavers. I had a really cool time talking with them all. Sean actually talked to me a lot, where as he is usually so reserved and quiet! I was sitting on the stage between him and Chris with another of my friends! It was so surreal. :-D
I got several pictures! I'll have to get them developed and see if I can get them scanned. If so, I'd be happy to share them.
Thanks for reading. Questions or comments invited!!

I was just wondering what she said about the quest for the lyrics since I was the one questioning about them. I mean, I know she didn't say my name or anything like that, I'm just curious what she said.

Yep Jess, that was me!! Ha. I can't believe you even remember me, much less all those details. :-D I'm flattered, I just hope it wasn't for some embarassing reason you remember me. Like I was a jerk, or had a booger hanging out of my nose. LOL
Anyway, about what Sarah said. . . She said, The other day, in the fan club, people were talking about the lyrics to this song, and suprisingly they almost knew them all. The context was that they had said they would be braking Alison Kraus' orders if they sang Seven Wonders and yet they were going to anyway. However, we were all ordered to promptly forget that we had ever heard it. That's when she said that about people somehow knowing the lyrics.
Cool?

No, I left before they did Green and Gray. They didn't sing it at the last show I was at either. I've heard it once and it was phenominal! I'm SO stinkin' jealous. [sob]
Where else have you seen them?

You know, they play out that way some. You just might have to travel a bit. The next time I'm seeing them, I'm traveling 8 hours. Of course, that's not the main reason I'm going, (I have friends up there.) but it's definately icing on the cake!!! :D
