Having never before posted a message on a board before, I guess this shows how much I appreciate the NC sound!
About 2 weeks ago I was watching Austin City Limits and was taken by surprise to see NC come on stage. So much so, that I didn't start my VCR!!
So, I was wondering if anybody out there might have turned on their VCR for that Austin City Limits show.
If so, I would desperately like to obtain a copy of that tv show for my own personal use. I would be more than happy to reimburse someone for their time, materials, and shipping to get me that a videotape.
If anybody can help me in this regard, my email address is hcmracing@aol.com.
Thanks --

If anyone has a copy of this, I'd be glad to reimburse all costs involved in getting one for myself as well. So maybe while you're emailing John, you could email itzsharon@yahoo.com as well? *hopeful look* ;)

Mee too, me to! I have been dying to see this show. If anyone was wise enough to tape Austin City Limits with Nickel Creek, PLEASE hook me up. I will also pay for the shipping and other costs associated with getting me a copy! Someone please defuse my frustration! If you can and want to help me please email me at jmcash@ilovejesus.net!

i'm not sure if they do this, but maybe the show would sell you that episode. pbs does that a lot. i haven't done it yet, but maybe we should check out pbs' website?

Good suggestion, J. Marie, but unfortunately, I don't think it's the solution we need. [guilty] I have checked PBS's site, and if past episodes of Austin City Limits are available for purchase, there is nothing there about it. (Unless it's extremely well-hidden.) I don't think they customarily make the individual episodes of this show available on video. I've only seen a few videos of Austin City Limits material that are commercially available, and those are usually special cases. Personally, I think PBS is missing out on a good source by not making these shows available for sale. There are several in addition to the NC one that I'd be interested in myself. But if they don't want to sell them, there's nothing we can do about it.
To be honest, I have been a bit dismayed that the only responses to John's post in the 10 days since he posted it (other than J. Marie's) have been from others who are dying to get their hands on a copy of this show. Is there actually not ONE person posting here at this board who has a copy of this show? Somehow I find that just a little hard to believe. ;)
When I asked about recordings of live shows in other thread, I got the same kind of response: NONE. As a new fan, I find it extremely frustrating that people in this fan community seem to be so uninterested in sharing the wealth. How are us newbies ever supposed to be able to catch up on what we've missed?[sob]
[bang] <--this is how I feel right now!

A quick Google search on the subject found an article stating that ACL is/was close to signing a deal to distribute ACL shows on VHS or DVD.
Unfortunately, the same article talks about Townes Van Zandt's 'new album' _A Far Cry From Dead_, which was released by Arista in '99, so things don't look good for ACL on video. :(

Well, that is certainly awesome news! *starts making a list of ACL shows I want to buy, including Nickel Creek* :D
I didn't even think of doing a general Google search ont he subject...just went to pbs.org and looked around. Thanks for the heads up!

I think it's more that everyone is waiting for official word from the band's management on taping and trading policy before going full-bore with trading.
If the final policy allows for it, we will add a trading board to the site, which should help to facilitate trades between fans.

I had a feeling it might be something like that, but I didn't know if I should assume that or not. Thanks for the clarification.
I sure hope we don't have to wait too much longer to find out what's going to be sanctioned...I have a feeling there are lots of new fans like me who are suffering from cravings for more Nickel Creek, and there are going to be more all the time. [noise]
Nickel Creek is taping a new Austin City Limits show, and I believe it will air in December (28th?).
Set your vcr now!
Apparently this NC performance on ACL will be preempted in Oklahoma. If someone will make me a SPslow-play speed VHS copy I will send in-trade a copy of their last performance on ACL.
thanks in advance!!
