bluejazz and jazzgrass sounds cool tho. i was thinking of starting a band based off this song. just original songs on tenor sax, bass, and mandolin. would sound cool.
anyone else got any ideas what this fusion of genres could be called?

Bluejazz sounds like a mixture of jazz and the blues at first glance. Fusiongrass is catchy. ;)

All the hybrid names are fun to think about and come up with, but I think Club G.R.O.S.S. is just a plain ol' jazz tune that happens to be played on a mandolin. It's not really all that bluegrassy aside from that. I'm sure a more complete cross-breeding of those genres is out there, but I'm not sure that Club G.R.O.S.S. is it. Maybe some Flecktones stuff, but I'm not sure; I don't listen to enough of either genre to come up with any further examples (which I don't think negates the validity of my Club G.R.O.S.S. assessment).
I'm not trying to break down NAWWAL into parts right now or anything, but it's kinda funny...when thinking casually about that cd, there aren't a whole lot of songs that, for me, definitely FALL into a category (for instance, I don't know HOW to classify Riddles in the Dark or Laurie de Tullins), but Club G.R.O.S.S. happens to be one that just sounds like jazz to me.
Just one man's opinion. Thoughts?

i have a question... how in the world is bluegrass in Club G.r.o.s.s.? theres nothing that brings it to bluegrass, other than its a mandolin playing it.
its 100% jazz, my friends. 100%,

Everyone is right. And everyone is also wrong.
Why does it matter what it's called? If you hear something that's great. This topic is nothing more than a debate because no one is going to agree on what it actually is.
Something that has always perplexed me is human nature's constant yearning to correctly classify things.
[sosad2] What is this? Is it a snowman or a ghost? Or is it the michelin man?
