Hey ya'll, I'm new here, and I wanted to give a hello to everybody on this board! You all sound like alot of fun, so I hope to join in and become a regular poster. :) I'm Josh, age 17 from Central Maine. :)
I'm a relatively new fan of Nickel Creek, but I am sure glad I am getting to know their music better. I have known about them for quite some time, about a year actually. But until now, I haven't listened closely enough to form an opinion, much less become a fan. But, when I went out and purchased Nickel Creek, I was amazed. Never before have I heard such stunning and captivating instrumental work, and awesome vocals and harmony. Their music, to me, is a relaxing escape, yet and invigorating taste of fresh air at the same time.
I am a country music fan, and listen to some bluegrass, although I prefer the contemporary sound, like Alison Krauss + Union Station, and of course, Nickel Creek! I know they don't want to be classified in one particular genre, and I really respect that. It show they are really into making good sounding music, for people to enjoy, not to make money or sell albums. In today's world of cookie cutter songs and blah-sounding music, Nickel Creek gives much needed originality to listeners. And that is my main interest: finding artists who show a real love for music, and an inate talent to produce it. And, Nickel Creek is very much a group that gets my vote!
As people, I admire them very much. 3 young, humble Christians who are not letting succes go to their heads. Today, traits like that should be treasured. With talent like they have, it would be so easy to follow society's trends and norms, but they are staying course and are on a mission to provide great sounding music. Music from the heart.
Sorry this post is so long, but I really wanted to let you all know how much I enjoy NC's music. Some of my favorites are The Fox, Reasons Why, When You Come Back Down, and The Hand Song. Which I love for it's simplicity, and starightforward message.
Until next time,
God Bless
~Josh
