I am by no means an offical on NGR, but they are for sure not together anymore. I know they did their last shows opening for the Grateful Dead on NYE in the 80's. They might have done the very last show at Down Home in Johnson City, TN. As far as all the members they are all quite active in the bluegrass world. I don't think I need to say what Sam and Bela have been up to, John Cowan just put out a new album that people seem to really like. He is usually at the the major festivals(Telluride, Merlefest, Etc) Pat Flynn the guitar player, from what I understand is a session man in Nashville. Well that is about all I know. I'm sure somebody else know some other stuff. By the way, they sure were a great band.

anyone ever heard the original line-up of NGR? It had Sam, Ebo Walker, Courney Johnson and Curtis Birch. Anyway, i know most people would be like - it doesn't have Bela and i said that too at first, but I got a copy of their very first cd http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000005H7/qid=1028922411/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_2/104-1525746-0811133

it is awesome - from 1973 - If you wan't to hear the first Newgrass album, this would have to be it. Sam's vocals are awesome and much better in my opinion than John Cowan.

But I also love the best of NGR cd that has Pat and Bela - it has my favorite acoustic song of all - Bigfoot
