ouch. just me or did it not sound good?They did the minimalist setup with just two microphones, so there were bound to be some audio problems. It's the same set of problems that plagued the How to Grow a Woman CD. That purist stereo approach can work well for chamber music and jazz, but I don't think it works for the Punch Brothers. Nice performance, though.

yeah I wasn't actually referring to the audio quality but I couldn't tell if I didn't like the song or if I just couldn't hear enough of it accurately. And I've come to loathe the recording on the how to grow a woman considering I have to adjust the volume so much through out the songs. In particular, I love the soft bits that Stay Away starts with but have to turn it up so much to hear it well, then ramp it down later that its tedious. I will admit though my car stereo and method of listening (ipod transmitter) aren't the best so maybe some problem lies there.

I don't like the sound on HTGAWFTG as much either- though I appreciate it on a technical level.

Yeah, I love the actual content on the album as well, but it always annoys me when I have to turn it up to full blast just to hear the bass at the start of The Beekeeper.
