Just wondering what anyone's favorite song on Not All Who Wander Are Lost is. They're all so good, it's hard to choose. At first Song for a Young Queen was my favorite along with Big Sam Thompson, but lately I've really been liking Wolfcreek Pass and Club G.R.O.S.S.
Any comments?

Yes, I like Raining at Sunset too. The whole CD is just amazing and awesome and astonishing and astounding.
I was surprised to find out that nine of the tracks on Sean's new CD will be vocals. Can't wait for that too.

I just got it yesterday finally! I like You deserve flowers the best so far, but I haven't really gotten to listen to it a whole bunch yet because I also bought Sean's cd, the soundtrack to moulin rouge and three sundry cds in the past few days so I've kinda been jammed with lots of songs (it was my bday recently no I'm not rich heh). So I'll just take you guys' songs as suggestions...cool :)

I have 5 favorite songs off his CD.
-You Deserve Flowers
-Laurie De' Tullins
-Big Sam Thompson
-Bridal Veil Falls
-Raining at Sunset
I haven't really decided which is the #1 pick, but I am swaying more towards Raining at Sunset & Laurie De' Tullins. I can really relate to these 2 songs. Listening to them brings back memories from sunsets at home (where I grew up) and then of course driving through the country-side in France, just outside of Paris. He matched up Laurie De' Tullins very well with the feeling of France or at least the feeling I had.

After many many many listenings, I think I can say that my favorite is Raining at Sunset. I also really like Euraka!, Big Sam Thompson, and Song for a Young Queen.

Personally, I'm going to have to go with Raining at Sunset and Big Sam Thompson. All the songs are just phenomenal in of themselves, but those are the ones that really grab me. Especially the way Big Sam starts to speed up and crescendo into all the imitative polyphany and what not, it's so kewl ! Just kills me. And Club G.R.O.S.S.....good grief that's awesome....skatting all over the place, and ripping jazz on a mandolin ! Unheard of! (at least to me) I'm just awestruck....

It's sooooo hard to pick, but I'd have to say Big Sam Thompson. I luv the entire cd, but Big Sam is what pulled me in the most!

I've fallen in love with Not all Who Wander are Lost. It's amazing to me that such a young person can put together such a great album. I have to agree with most, Song for a Young Queen and Big sam Thompson are definatley my favorites. I love the celtic undertones in Big Sam and Song for a Young Queen is just beatiful -not to mention hard to get out of your head. If you at all like Nickel Creek, you've GOT to get this album.

Late to the party or what ?
This is my favorite album of all time. I hope it is not the pinnacle of Chris career. The kid was made to compose, orchestrate and perform with great players. The album is loaded with composing brilliance and subtlety. And unlike everything Chris has done since, there is a minimal degree of strumming and plinking endlessly on the high strings.
Is it possible that when Chris writes his own music that he contains his playing to fit the playing of the peers he is composing for, but that when he accompanies the music of others, he enlarges his role to fit whatever space they give him? I know this sounds contradictory and confusing. I like Cauldron. I like the Mark O'Connor double CD. But I love NATWAR. And I cannot wait for the next time Chris writes another solo album.
Favorites in descending order:
Bridal Veil Falls
Raining at Sunset
Eureka
Big Sam Thompson
Wolfcreek pass
Ode to a Young Queen
All the others are in a tie for great!
