I'm on two completely different boards that have this same problem. Depending on what you do, the unread posts will be marked as read, even though you haven't gone into them yet.

Opening up a new browser window will do it, but that's not the only way. Tonight, it happened while I was typing a post. After finishing my post, all messages were marked as read.

I'm assuming the cookie is getting updated when it shouldn't be. Not sure if there's a glitch in Bulletin's software, or anything can even be done to fix it.

For a contrasting example, the way ezboard works is...you HAVE to click on Mark all messages as 'read' in each forum for the cookie to be updated (or whatever). It's annoying that way, but losing what messages I've read and which I haven't is even worse.

ya i post on two boards too. the other one use to be that way until they set it up so that you manually have to click the topic in order for it to show up read. ;)

I believe that the way we've got the defaults set, it automatically marks all threads read after you've been online in the forum for 15 minutes. I've run into problems myself where I'll be writing an answer that takes a few minutes, go through a bunch more messages, and then the rest are no longer showing up as unread.. but you can always go to the forum view and just look at the threads in date/time order...
